The Ford Escape Has What It Takes

Ford Escape

If you’re looking for a small SUV that combines fuel efficiency, comfort, and reliability, look no further than the Ford Escape.

Bold New Look

The Escape receives a bold new front end for 2023, which comes with a wider grille. The hood and front bumper have also been changed in order to help dress up the side view of the Escape. You’ll also note that there are new trim levels, as Ford says goodbye to the familiar S, SE, SEL, and Titanium trims. The new Escape trim levels now include Active, ST-Line, and Platinum. The Ford Escape also offers a plug-in hybrid model, which is in essence its own trim level. The Escape also features an upgraded infotainment system and touchscreen, as the model will now use Ford’s Sync 4 system. This upgrade allows the Escape to receive over-the-air updates. For drivers who want or need a larger screen, Ford offers an optional 13.2-inch infotainment display.

Customized Powertrain

Buyers interested in purchasing an Escape will have a wide choice of powertrains. The base engine is a 181-hp turbocharged 1.5-liter three-cylinder available with either front- or all-wheel drive. Ford offers two Escape hybrids—one of which uses a plug-in— for those who are interested in reducing their carbon footprint. The powertrains for the hybrid models use a 2.5-liter four-cylinder and two electric motors which combine to make 210 horsepower. The Escape also offers a 250-horsepower turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. Both gasoline engines are mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission, while the hybrid models use continuously variable transmission.
