The forest is located near the airport in Thomas County and ready for you to visit, so learn all about Lost Creek Forest below.

About

Lost Creek Forest is publicly owned land in Thomas County, Georgia. You can find a slope forest and wetland that has seen very little to no disturbance when visiting. The forest is a remnant of our natural heritage, and it is in the same condition as it would have been when founded by the first human inhabitants and first Europeans to visit the Americas.

The combination of slope forests, seeps, floodplains, creeks, and other ecosystems is what makes the forest so rare and beautiful, as no other forests in South Georgia exist due to the intact climax. The small trees, shrubs, and herbaceous plants are all representatives of what would have been found in this forest thousands of years ago.

Directions

If you are in Thomasville and at the intersection of US Hwy 19 and GA Hwy 122, you will want to go northeast on Hwy 122, Pavo Rd, for about five miles. On your way, you will pass Country Oaks Golf Course on your left. Travel down the road until you see Airport Road on the left. There will be a small slope, so make sure you park on the left side about halfway down the slope. This is where you will meet with your tour guide and explore the forest.
