Everyone in Thomasville is looking forward to the Rose Show & Festival, an annual event that celebrates the beauty and fragrant aroma of our local roses. This year the event is on April 28-29, and if you’re anything like us, we can’t wait.
Getting Started
The festival begins with Orchids on Parade on Friday, offering naturally grown orchids from the Thomasville Orchid Society. The weekend formally kicks off with a ribbon-cutting ceremony that’s open to the public at 9 a.m., and features the Thomasville Rose Queen and Court as well as local dignitaries. This is a colorful and exciting display of community spirit and pride. Orchids on Parade ends at 4 p.m.
In Bloom
The main attraction of the Rose Show & Festival is the rose show itself, which is held at various locations throughout Thomasville. The show features hundreds of rose specimens, carefully selected and arranged for display by local rose growers and enthusiasts. Visitors can see and smell the roses up close, and learn about the different varieties and care techniques.
In addition to the rose show, the festival offers a wide range of activities for all ages. There are food vendors, art exhibits, live music, and interactive children’s activities. Visitors can also take part in guided tours of the city’s historic districts and antebellum homes, which offer a glimpse into the rich cultural heritage of Thomasville.
The Rose Show & Festival has a long history in Thomasville, dating back to the early 1900s. It has grown into one of the largest and most popular festivals in the state of Georgia, drawing visitors from all over the region and beyond. The festival is a testament to the community’s love of roses and its commitment to preserving and promoting the beauty of nature.
