Having a greenway is a wonderful resource in a community. Luckily, Leon County has a greenway that is perfect for nearby communities to get outdoors and enjoy nature in a variety of ways. These days it is important to remain socially distant, and at the greenway, you can successfully do this while having fun and staying active. Not only is this space useful, but it is also beautiful. Do you know something else that is great about having a greenway nearby? Greenways are used for conservation and help the environment in a multitude of ways. Say Yes to These Activities

It is a great feeling to get out and enjoy the fresh air at the greenway. Although, you don’t have to just sit on a blanket and watch the clouds go by.  Other activities that you can partake in include birdwatching, bicycling, hiking/running, horseback riding, picnicking, and wildlife observation. You could spend a 30-minute lunch break or an entire afternoon at the greenway. Your whole family will enjoy spending time together in the sunshine.

Say No to These Activities

In order for this incredible space to be used in a safe way by all, there are some prohibited activities to keep in mind. The following activities are not allowed so that everyone can have a good time while visiting the greenway. These activities include having dogs off-leash, the use of motorized vehicles, model rockets, remote control airplanes or vehicles, golfing, archery, and hunting. Not all of these activities may seem negative, but they are not appropriate for this particular area.

Schedule These Activities in Advance

There are some activities that need special scheduling if you wish to do them at the greenway. These activities include geocaching, special events, and organized sporting events. These activities are okay to partake in, only if consistent with Leon County’s Use and Scheduling of Parks & Recreation Facilities policy and approved by the County’s Division of Parks and Recreation. Make sure to reach out ahead of time.
