One of the best ways to celebrate Earth Day is by spending it outside in nature. You get to bask in all nature has to offer and truly enjoy the beauty of the outdoors. You may not be an outdoorsy person so camping or spending long periods of time outside are not for you. Thankfully, Thomasville is home to a few beautiful parks that permit activities like biking and hiking. These parks also provide lots of shade for those that just want to relax outdoors.

The Ritz Amphitheatre and Park

Located in the Bottom District of Downtown Thomasville, The Ritz Amphitheatre and Park features a stage, electricity access, and restrooms just like any concert venue. Balfour Park and the City of Thomasville Dog Park

Who doesn’t love a park you can bring your dog to? Balfour Park is a smaller park that is located on South Pinetree Boulevard between US Highway 319 and Fletcher Street. The park has great amenities, like a covered shelter, picnic tables, grills, playgrounds, tennis courts, and so much more. If you are looking adjacent to Balfour Park, you can’t help but notice Thomasville Dog Park. Here you can relax while your pup enjoys some time off the leash and gets some of their energy out while playing with the other dogs. The Dog Park includes waste bags for easy clean-up, separate areas for different size dogs, running water to keep them hydrated, and even an obstacle course.

Cassidy Pond

Sitting by the water is often a great way to relax and take in the peaceful scenery. At Cassidy Pond you can do just that. Cassidy Pond features a pier that you can fish off of, picnic tables, and a sheltered area for relaxing.

Francis Weston Park

Do you have a sporting event you want to host? Francis Weston Park is the place to go. Here you will find a baseball field, basketball court, playground set, shelter with picnic tables, a grill, and restrooms. You can also reserve a pavilion at this park for events such as birthday parties, family reunions, and more.
