Perhaps more than any other area of your home, your garage can be a place that easily becomes messy. Over time, the garage can become a gathering place for junk, random items, and an assortment of belongings and supplies. In addition, the garage can easily gather dust, dirt, and other debris. If this sounds like yours, it’s time to make some changes. There are some effective tools for getting your garage neat and tidy this coming year.
Duster With Extension Pole
Dust can gather in hard-to-reach spots such as shelves, on top of refrigerators, and in the corners of the garage. The right dusting tool can pick up this unwanted dust and make these areas nice and clean once again. Firstly, look for a duster with a microfiber head. This material will pick up and grab dust, easily removing it. Secondly, you will want a pole that can extend a couple of feet so you can get to any spot in the garage where dust has collected. Some poles can extend up to 8 feet or more.
Dustpan and Broom
You don’t need to get fancy when it comes to cleaning the garage. A good old-fashioned dustpan and broom can work wonders in the garage. You most likely already have one for the kitchen and living room. However, you’ll want a separate set for the garage, so you don’t track in the excess dirt into the house that can accumulate here. Also, the broom should be sturdy and durable.
Squeegee
After sweeping the garage, it’s always a good idea to wash it out. A power washer or even your garden hose can spray out dirt from the floor. Once you’re done, you’ll want to get rid of any remaining water with the right tool. For instance, a squeegee is the right one for the job. A product with a curved head will work best. This will push the water out of your garage, so it doesn’t puddle up and cause odors or fungal growth.
Shop-Vac
For vacuuming duties, you’ll want to spare the use of your regular indoor vacuum. A wet vacuum or a Shop-Vac can work wonders in the garage. These products have a large capacity and can suck up water and an assortment of other debris.

Leaf Blower
If sweeping is giving you a backache or is simply a more inconvenient job than you want to deal with, treat yourself to a leaf blower. A cordless option is a good choice for a garage. Just make sure to charge the battery before you use it.
You don’t have to continue contending with a dirty garage. This coming year, arm yourself with the right equipment to finally get things looking neat and clean.
